MILITARY SCIENCE COURSES (MSC)
MSC 101 Fundamentals of Military Science I (2) Fundamentals of Military
Science I is an introduction to the Army Reserve Officers Training Corps, the
United States Army Organization, and individual military skills. The course
requires one class meeting and one two-hour laboratory each week.
MSC 102 Fundamentals of Military Science II (2) Fundamentals of Military
Science II is a continuation of Fundamentals of Military Science I, with emphasis
on individual military skills. The course requires one class meeting and one
two-hour laboratory each week.
MSC 201 Fundamentals of Military Science I (3) Fundamentals of Military
Science II is a study of general leadership theory and general military skills.
The course requires two class meetings and one two-hour laboratory each week.
MSC 202 Fundamentals of Military Science II (3) Fundamentals of Military
Science II includes a study of small unit training systems and tactical operations.
The course requires two class meetings and one two-hour laboratory each week.
MSC 301 Advanced Military Design Making (4) Small group leadership through
practical applications. Individual leadership skills with emphasis on problem
analysis, decision formation, and steps of decision making. Two lectures, laboratory,
and three physical fitness sessions per week.
MSC 302 Small Unit Tactics and Communication (4) Small Unit Tactics
and Communication is a study of the leader's role in directing individuals and
small units in tactical missions. The course requires two class meetings and
one two-hour laboratory each week.
MSC 401 Seminar in Leadership and Management I (4) Seminar in Leadership
and Management I requires the student to analyze case studies in leadership
and management, the study of military correspondence, become familiar with military
correspondence, and present oral presentations on military subjects. The course
requires two class meetings and one two-hour laboratory each week.
MSC 402 Seminar in Leadership and Management II (4) Seminar in Leadership
and Management II involves the study of selected leadership and management problems
in unit administration, military justice, professionalism and ethics. The course
requires two class meetings and one two-hour laboratory each week.
HIS 202 United States History Since 1865 (3) or any history course that
would cover U.S. Military History since 1860 or an equivalent period.
