ACADEMIC INFORMATION
TRANSIENT CREDIT
A Francis Marion University student desiring to take courses at
some other institution either during the summer session or the
regular session and wishing to have courses transferred back to
Francis Marion University to apply toward a degree must have in
advance the approval of his/her adviser or department chairperson
or school dean, and the Registrar before registering for the courses.
All transient credit must be from a regionally accredited institution
and must be verified by an official transcript from the institution
at which the graduate study was undertaken. A maximum of six semester
hours may be transferred from a regionally accredited institution
upon recommendation of the adviser and with permission of the
department/school. No graduate coursework may be transferred to
Francis Marion University for which grades lower than B are achieved.
Grades of S, U, P, or F will NOT be accepted. The grades earned
in courses at other institutions will not be included in the student's
grade point average at Francis Marion University. Only those students
who are in good academic standing (that is, those with cumulative
GPAs of 3.0 or above) can be approved to take courses at other
institutions. No credit will be transferred for correspondence
courses or courses taught on a pass/fail or satisfactory/unsatisfactory
grading scale. Forms are available in the Office of the Registrar.
It is the student's responsibility to have an official transcript
sent to the Office of the Registrar upon completion of the course(s)
but no later than one month prior to the date he/she is scheduled
to complete degree requirements.
