DEPARTMENT OF NURSING

COOPERATIVE PROGRAM OPTION

BSN Basic Track Degree Plan

The cooperative program offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing; this basic type program is often called the 2+2 program because applicants to the program must complete 60 semester hours of lower division, prerequisite coursework prior to enrollment in the nursing curriculum offered by MUSC at Francis Marion University. Admission is competitive and on a space-available basis, determined by overall MUSC College of Nursing enrollment and availability of clinical components. To be considered for admission, preferred applicants should have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and a minimum 500 verbal and 500 math on the SAT I. For fall admission, application deadline for MUSC College of Nursing is February 1. On-line applications are available at http://www.musc.edu/es.

All lower division prerequisite coursework is offered at Francis Marion University. Prerequisite courses taken at Francis Marion University will be accepted for transfer if the student meets the minimum course content requirements and a grade of C or better is earned. Prerequisite course work is listed under the Pre-Nursing section of this catalog. Students must apply and be accepted by MUSC. After admission to the MUSC College of Nursing, students complete an additional 61 semester hours of upper division course work.

Admission to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is competitive and cannot be guaranteed. Students interested in the cooperative program option are advised to familiarize themselves with the application procedures and admissions criteria of the MUSC College of Nursing.
